Collapsible Christmas Trees
A 20th Century Convenience
Artificial Christmas trees have come a long way since plastics made it possible to manufacture one you can use for years on end. As a product that’s relevant only for a few days in a year, there are patented developments that have made the annually reusable Christmas tree a lot easier to store and deploy in typical homes where space is a premium. One such development is the use of collapsible Christmas tree.
There is no disputing the fact that artificial Christmas trees are a great joy to set-up in time for Christmas Eve. But it becomes a great pain to dismantle after the holidays. Artificial Christmas trees below 5 ft tall can be easy to store as they can fit in most closet, basement or attic space. But starting at 6ft tall and above with the more common 7ft tall Christmas trees, you need to have some mechanism in the tree itself to store them efficiently using less storage pace.
Setting Up and Dismantling is a breeze
A degree of collapsibility solves the problem to a large extent. There are now collapsible models that can make life at lot easier when assembling and dismantling a Christmas tree. There are patented mechanical differences among various collapsible trees that are packaged in parts. But most of them do have a separate heavy plastic base on which the trunk and branches can be put together.
The typical one requires you to connect the main tree trunk to the base using screws or a locking mechanism to bolt them together. Then the tree branches with the pine leaves are attached to the trunk according to size from the longest at the bottom to the shortest at the top.
Dismantling it just requires you to reverse the order. The general idea is to store the Christmas tree without damaging its parts so you can use it next time. It is not uncommon that collapsible Christmas trees properly stored can last many years if not decades.
Pre-lit Variety
A number of collapsible models already come pre-lit using special miniature light bulbs or LEDS at the ends of branches and leaves. They carry an active electrical pathway that gets connected to the main trunk when you assemble them to complete an electronic circuit that is often controlled from the base that carries the main electronics and power-up cables. A little more care is needed to ensure the electricals are properly connected. These types of collapsible Christmas trees are the best thing to come to the modern busy housewife or executive wanting to celebrate the holidays with less hustle.
